Job Description:
Qualification: M.Sc. / B.Sc (Chemistry) with MBA in supply chain
Experience: min 12 to 20 years experience of logistics, packaging management & supply chain activities from any industry of Paints, Coatings, Refractories, Ceramics.
Location :- Nerul (Need base at Khopoli and Chembur)
Male preferred, Age 35-50
About Job role:
As a Manager / Head– Logistics, Sourcing, and Packaging, you will oversee and optimise the entire logistics and packaging function within the organisation.
You will be a strategic thinker with a strong operational focus, driving efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability while ensuring uninterrupted supply chain operations.
Your role will include managing warehouse operations, transportation, packaging, and storage, all while mitigating supply chain disruptions and implementing global best practices.
Job description:
Knowledge areas:
Operationally - Transportation, Trucks, Tankers, Transportation Companies, brokers, Contract-agreement with the transport Cos, cost negotiations, T&C, penalties, On-time performance, tracking, Team handling, Mathadis loading and unloading issues, breakdowns, breakage, spillage on the way, retrieval.
Monthly volume – Not less than 10K MT.
Strategically – Market benchmarks, Supply chain, Contracts, cost control, KPIs, KRAs in transportations.
Preferred candidate profile
• Target industries: Resins, Paints, Foundries or other allied Chemical segments such as adhesives
• Strong leadership capabilities

Key Responsibilities :
Strategic planning:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive logistics and packaging strategy aligned with business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, efficiency, and sustainability
Warehouse management:
• Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory management, storage, picking, packing, and shipping
• Ensure optimal utilisation of warehouse space and resources
Transportation management:
• Manage transportation activities, including carrier selection, route optimisation, and freight cost management
• Implement cost-effective transportation solutions
Packaging:
• Develop and implement packaging strategies that meet product protection, cost, and sustainability requirements
• Optimise packaging materials and processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency
Supply Chain risk management:
• Identify and mitigate potential supply chain disruptions through risk assessment, contingency planning and building a resilient supply chain network
Cost management:
• Develop and implement cost-reduction initiatives across the logistics and packaging functions, including freight optimisation, warehouse efficiency, packaging material reduction, and leveraging procurement tools like forward/reverse auctions
Sustainability:
• Integrate sustainability principles into logistics and packaging operations, focusing on the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), minimising waste, and selecting eco-friendly packaging materials
Financial management:
• Develop and manage logistics budgets, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities to optimise logistics costs
Performance management:
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, order fulfilment accuracy, inventory turnover, freight cost per unit, packaging cost per unit, and sustainability metrics
Contract management:
• Negotiate and manage contracts with logistics service providers, warehouse operators, and packaging suppliers, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements
Team management:
• Lead and develop a high-performing logistics and packaging team
Industry trends:
• Stay updated on global logistics and packaging trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement
Digitalization:
• Implement and leverage logistics software, Warehouse Management System, Track Management System, and other relevant technologies to optimise operations, improve visibility, and reduce costs
Customer service:
• Ensure excellent customer service by meeting delivery expectations, resolving logistics issues promptly, and building strong customer relationships
Risk mitigation:
• Develop and implement a robust risk management plan, including business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and insurance management to mitigate supply chain disruptions
Best practices:
• Stay updated on industry best practices in logistics, warehousing, and packaging
• Implement lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other relevant improvement initiatives
Regulatory compliance:
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as EUDR, Kosher, and NDPE by closely collaborating with the Regulatory and Sourcing teams
Change management:
• Successfully lead and manage change within the logistics and packaging function to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Technology proficiency:
• Demonstrate proficiency in logistics software and systems, including SAP ERP, Xeneta, and Dewry
Packaging innovation:
• Drive innovation in packaging design to enhance sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and product protection while adhering to regulatory standards
Continuous improvement:
• Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the logistics and packaging function by implementing lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other relevant improvement initiatives
• Identify and implement process optimisation opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
